Business as a force for sustainable development
The Inclusive Business Initiative is a program of the Sustainable Development Council (SDC) focused on promoting sustainable and inclusive business practices in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 8.
The initiative works with businesses, entrepreneurs, and development partners to create economic models that generate decent work, promote fair opportunities, and contribute to inclusive growth.
Through capacity building, research, and partnerships, the Inclusive Business Initiative supports the development of business approaches that balance profitability with social and environmental responsibility.
Recognized with Special Consultative Status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) from 2021.
The initiative focuses on supporting small and medium enterprises, social entrepreneurs, and institutions in adopting business practices that are sustainable, inclusive, and aligned with the SDGs.
SDC works with business networks, academic institutions, and civil society organizations to create programs that promote responsible business conduct, decent work, and economic opportunity for underserved communities.
The Inclusive Business Initiative also contributes to policy dialogue on sustainable business, advocating for frameworks that encourage economic growth while protecting workers' rights and environmental sustainability.
